Potatoes. Potatoes. Potatoes.

Since my YouTube video this week is about potatoes, it's only right that I write a little snippet on potatoes and why they're great since theres not technically a 'recipe' to go with my posted video.

Potatoes are top tier

Potatoes are on of the versatile mediums in cooking.

French fries

Mashed potatoes

Chips

Potato pancakes

Wedges

Gnocchi

Potato salad

Country fried potatoes

Hash browns

JUST TO NAME A FEW OF THE POTATOEY GOODNESS!

Where did they come from?

Potatoes are believed to originate/ be domesticated in modern time Peru. They are a root plant and in the veggie family. Potatoes make up an integral part of the food supply. At one point- potatoes were #4 behind corn, wheat and rice.

Potatoes contain starch which can thicken stews and soups when added. When the potatoes are rinsed in water- it rids of some starch content which lowers carb count. One potato is around 100 calories but once we start adding butter, sour cream, cheese, chives, bacon (I could go onnnn. I love a baked potato.) then the count increases.

They are versatile because they can be used to created breakfast, lunch and dinner.

My faves happen to be Red and Yukon Gold because I AM a garlic and cheese mashed potato fiend. They are two of the all purpose potatoes
